SASS - Soprano Alto Singers of Solano (formerly Melody Choral Singers) is a 3-part women's choral group founded in Vallejo, California over 60 years ago. Today SASS consists of members from Benicia, Vallejo, Fairfield, Vacaville and American Canyon, California.
We exist to create opportunities for women to sing together in our communities and provide scholarships and grants to encourage young vocalists. Locally, SASS supports talented singing groups from our communities' schools. Our annual holiday and spring concerts raise funds for these scholarships and grants. We also enjoy providing musical entertainment for community groups and businesses throughout the year.
SASS participates as a member of the California Woman's Chorus Inc. (CWC Inc.), an organization which includes many women's vocal groups like ours throughout the state. In the Spring, these groups come together as a mass chorus of 200 women to perform an annual concert. At this annual concert all choruses have a weekend of activities and fun, as well as raise substantial scholarship funds for 3 talented young vocalists who also perform for the audience.
CWC Inc. encourages women's choruses throughout California to promote the joy that music brings to everyone's life. Through membership in CWC, we are also allowed nonprofit status.
There are no auditions, but a few simple requirements.
